A Young Adult Teacher
Education
In 2022, I stepped into a classroom not as a student, but as a teacher — something few people my age expect to do. Becoming an ICT teacher so early shaped the way I see knowledge and creativity. I always feel like I'm not just teaching visual coding, digital tools or what a spredsheet is; I feel like I'm helping shape how my students connect with the digital world around them.
At first, it was hilarious — the school janitors, my colleagues, and even some students mistook me for a student too. I lost count of how many times I was asked to tap my card at the front gate or was told to leave the teachers lounge. Some of my students even asked me which class I was in! It became a running joke, and honestly, a fun reminder of how unusual — and cool — this path has been.
Teaching taught me structure and adaptability, but also made me aware of how rapidly technology — and our understanding of it — evolves. There’s something energizing about being in sync with both education and design culture. And although I began early, I know this is only the beginning of the story.
Youth isn’t a limitation — it’s a lens.
Sometimes being mistaken for a student is the clearest sign you’re teaching something fresh.
